Company ProfileMark IV Industries Corp - IVHS Division MARK IV IVHS, part of the MARK IV Transportation Technologies Group, is a designer and manufacturer of Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) devices that are widely used by highway, toll, turnpike, tunnel, and bridge authorities to enable intelligent transportation systems such as electronic toll collection and automated weigh station bypass. Our DSRC technology today employs active and semi-active microwave, short-range, two-way communication capability. MARK IV has over 16 million transponders for use on vehicles operating in the United States primarily for electronic toll collection. Growth is expected to increase substantially in coming years as the popularity of electronic toll collection, traffic management and commercial vehicle monitoring services expand. A major example of a system serving many of these users is the E-ZPass(sm) electronic toll collection system provided by the 22 toll agency members of the Interagency Group (IAG), spread across 11 states. Speaker BiographyMartin Capper joined MARK IV IVHS in 1993 and served as its executive vice president from 1997 until 2001 when he was appointed president. MARK IV supplies the majority of electronic toll collection equipment in the Northeastern United States including more than 16 million toll transponders. The E-ZPasssm system of the Interagency Group of 23 toll authorities is the largest and most successful intelligent transportation system implementation in the world and MARK IV is a significant contributor to that success. Prior to joining Mark IV was a resident of South Africa for 20 years. During his career there, Martin served as CFO of South Africa's largest independent insurer for 5 years and pioneered the concept of electronic commerce between intermediaries and underwriters. Prior to that he was the Group Executive responsible for Strategic Planning for the nation's largest paper and packaging group Nampak Ltd. Born in the North of Ireland, Mr. Capper is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and did his final qualifying exams in Dublin's fair city. In addition to his Mark IV responsibilities he serves on the Board of Directors of Intelligent Transportation Society of America and is the Immediate Past Chairman of that Board. |
