Philips is now focusing on the technology development required to mass-produce full-color polymer OLED displays, based on passive and active-matrix addressing. High precision inkjet printing has been chosen as the deposition technology for the OLED material. In this presentation, we give an overview of the activities of Philips in the area of OLED applications.
Speaker CVEric Meulenkamp studied chemistry at Utrecht University, the Netherlands, where he also obtained a Ph.D. in 1993. Following a brief post-doctoral stay in the Bath, UK, he joined Philips Research Laboratories in Eindhoven, the Netherlands in 1995. His work was centred around electrochemistry and materials, and included topics such as quantum dots, electrodeposition and electrochromism. In 2000 he started working on polymer LEDs, and led the materials and device work from 2003. March 2005 he became head of the department "Photonic materials and devices". Since early 2015 he is the General Manager of OLEDWorks GmbH, following the acquisition of the Philips OLED business by OLEDWorks LLC. |
