Presentation Summary

The rapid pace of development of new energy storage chemistries, and the imminent electrification of transport present new challenges in terms of materials fabrication, integration into multifunctional structures, and operation under harsh mechanical conditions. A key enabling technology to address some of these challenges are fabrics of nanocarbons. They combine the conductivity and toughness of steel, superior electrochemical stability than metals, the density of plastic and are already produced industrially. This presentation discusses progress in using this technology for advanced multifunctional energy systems and perspectives for industrial implementation.
