Speaker BiographyKevin Cheng received his Ph.D degree in Aeronautics & Astronautics from National Cheng Kung University in 1998. Subsequently after his Ph.D degree, he was as an engineer of the Printing Technology Division, Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). In 2003, he won the first award paper for National Instrument Days. In 2005, Cheng received a personal outstanding research award of ITRI. Cheng has published more than 40 conference and journal papers, and has filed or been granted 30 individual patent, most of these publication related to ink-jet technology on industrial applications. Cheng now is a manager in charge of the printable science department of ITRI. His department focuses on the field of the printable system integration and industrial ink-jet printing processes development, such as maskless fine-circuit forming, liquid crystal dispensing, polyimide dispensing, color filter pixelization, micro-lenses, organic-inorganic active device by ink-jet printing, etc. Cheng's research interest covers opto-mechanical system development, ink-jet printing control, and new process for organic material development. It was founded in 1973 by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) to attend to the technological needs of Taiwan's industrial development.
