Speaker Biography (Alexander Kraft)

Alexander Kraft is one of the founders of Gesimat GmbH, a company which is specialized in the development and production of highly innovative switchable glass products. Currently, he is manager at Gesimat, focussing on the further development of the company's electrochromic glass. Prior to starting up Gesimat in 1998, Alexander Kraft was active in the development of electrochemical water treatment technologies and devices. He holds a Doctor degree in physical chemistry (semiconductor electrochemistry) from Humboldt University in Berlin (1994). From 1984 to 1989 he studied chemistry at this university.

Company Profile (Gesimat)

Gesimat logo
The company Gesimat was founded in 1998. We are specialists for switchable glass and currently manufacture four different types of switchable glass products. These are two different switchable sun protection glazing (electrochromic glass Gesimat EC and thermochromic glass Gesimat TC), a switchable privacy glass (electrotropic glass Gesimat ET) and a heating glass (electrothermal glass Gesimat Eth). Electrochromic glass changes its light transmittance due to the application of small dc voltages, thermochromic glass due to temperature changes induced by sun irradiation. The functions of electrotropic and electrothermal glass are also activated by electrical switching.
