A wireless sensor node powered by a vibration energy harvester has been developed and flight tested on an AgustaWestland helicopter in the framework of a R&D programme aimed at evaluating the enabling technologies for an On-Rotor HUMS.
The presentation describes the requirements that guided the development and the flight test results.
Speaker Biography (Tiziano Frattini)
Tiziano Frattini joined AgustaWestland in 2004, after having graduated in Physics at Università degli Studi di Milano. He received a MBA from Finmeccanica business school in 2008.
Tiziano works as Avionic System Engineer and has a significant experience in the development, integration, test and certification of electro-avionic systems on helicopters.
Since 2010 he has worked on a R&D programme focused on rotorcraft applications of Energy Harvesting and Wireless Sensors. He co-authored the paper "Development of a Helicopter On-Rotor HUM System Powered by Vibration Energy Harvesting", published at the 40th European Rotorcraft Forum, 2014.
