Connected device for growing plants

ROOT is a smart, connected device that allows you to grow a variety of plants in your home, or in small and cramped spaces, with minimal upkeep with light and water automation. With ROOT users can grow a variety of plants including leafy greens, herbs, vine plants and edible flowers.

 

ROOT stands at 30 inches tall and 10 inches wide and consumes 40 watts of power - the equivalent of just one standard incandescent light bulb and is easy to assemble. Simply place ROOT on a stable surface and fill the reservoir with water and nutrients, set in ROOT pods and plug in and sync.

 

ROOT will text a reminder when to add water and nutrients and typically only needs more water and nutrients every two weeks, depending on the humidity and temperature of the environment. A notification on your smart phone will let you now when it is low on water and also the nutrient and status of the plants.

 

The system has all the integrated components needed to start growing: lights, an internal timer, and a self-watering system. LEDs are used as they are more efficient and use less energy than standard grow lights. Traditional growing lights produce light that flows in every direction, wasting light energy and dissipating a large amount of heat. LEDs focus specific wavelengths of lights that can be readily absorbed by plants, minimizing the amount of energy required to supply proper lighting.
