HIP was formed 5 years ago to produce hip protectors for the elderly using new reactive materials that were much more effective and comfortable to wear than anything currently available. Fall-Safe Assist was developed to accurately detect all falls, send an alarm if the wearer does not quickly get to their feet and monitor their mobility, eg steps, to record and report activity, or the lack thereof. F-SA is embedded in HIP's Fall-Safe® hip protectors to maximise its effectiveness and it links, via Bluetooth, to the wearer's smartphone to communicate with emergency services, clinics, relatives etc.

Exploring the possibilities with Sensors in Medicine
IDTechEx joined around 100 delegates at the Sensors in Medicine 2015 event at the Royal Geographical Society on London's Exhibition Road. Two days of talks from companies, academics and physicians discussed the key trends around the topic, and presented the state-of-the-art when it comes to different sensors for medical point of care diagnosis.
