The ever-expanding applications for wearable motion sensing
Many of the most prominent examples of wearable technology today revolve around algorithms that take data from sensors such as IMUs and purpose it towards useful causes. Proteus first received funding for research into digital healthcare projects in 2004. Based in Redwood City, CA, they now have over 200 employees and have worked on several collaborations, including with Novartis, Medtronic, Oracle and the NHS in the UK. They underwent rebranding in 2012, changing their name from Proteus Biomedical to Proteus Digital Health. They are a privately held company, and have received over $400 million in funding from sources including Carlyle, Essex Woodlands, Kaiser Permanente®, Medtronic®, Novartis®, Otsuka®, Oracle®, ON Semiconductor® and other investors.

The light industrial & commercial EV business will exceed $20b by 2023
IDTechEx projects that 119,000 electric taxis will be sold giving a $1.8 billion global market. Most of the commercial electric vehicles, including the taxis, are and will be pure electric. That will even be true of large commercial vehicles, notably e-buses, set to exceed a $20 billion market as early as 2018 and dominated by demand in China.
