Visualplanet founded in 2002, is the home of the touchfoilTM a 100 micron film based projected capacitive (Pro-Cap) touch sensor that can be applied to and then works through thick glass.
In 2003 Visualplanet delivered the first 50 inch touchfoilTM used to turn a real estate window into an interactive touch solution. By 2004 visualplanet started manufacturing the touchfoilTM in volume, thus creating the world's first Pro-Cap touch sensor that could be scaled in sizes from 30 inches to over 100 inches.
Over the last nine years the touchfoilTM has become an integral part of an extensive range of bespoke touch solutions and standard interactive enclosures, built and delivered by visualplanet's world-wide network of VARs and OEMs.

They have access to the same IP from the same source. The licensing arrangements is such that VisualPlanet focuses on film-based solutions for large-sized applications, whereas Zytronic is focused on medium-sized glass-based outdoor solutions.

Visual Planet is a niche Cambridge-based company offering very large-sized transparent touch sensors. Their technology is based on a fine metal wire mesh concept, which enables low-cost but large-sized solutions. They key target markets are interactive digital signage and advertisement. A key selling point is their ability to customize the sensor layout and performance in this fragmented space.

Haptic feedback for touch screen devices
More and more consumer electronics devices feature a touch screen, which is already considered a must have for new devices. The next big topic will be haptic feedback solutions outperforming the poor vibration-based feedback that is the standard today. Adding haptic and sound feedback to touch screens using electro active polymers (EAPs) will be a featured topic at TCF LIVE Europe 2013 .
