Profile
Würth Solar, a Würth Group company, is a complete provider of photovoltaic systems based on CIS technology. Würth Solar was the first company worldwide to begin large-scale production of CIS solar modules in the fall of 2006 from its specially-built CISfab solar factory in Schwäbisch Hall. CIS stands for the chemical compound comprising copper, indium and selenide (CuInSe2). From development and production of GeneCIS solar modules, customer-specific consultation, financing and system planning of the solar system, through to its installation and support from certified service partners, Würth Solar offers its customers everything from a single source. Würth Solar currently employs a staff of around 200.

Würth Solar, the innovation leader in CIS technology for photovoltaic power generation, has doubled production capacity for solar modules in its CISfab in Schwäbisch Hall from 15 MW to 30 MW in 2008. Around 350,000 modules per year are being produced actually in Schwäbisch Hall.

By expanding the CISfab, Würth Solar is responding to the enormous interest in CIS modules. The high demand exists above all in Germany, but also increasingly in other countries such as Spain and Italy. There solar energy is promoted according to the German Renewable Energies Law (EEG) model, which has a positive impact on the market.
