プレゼンテーション概要

OLED lighting technology offers design options and quality of light that are unmatched by any other light source for various applications. In our view, automotive lighting will be the first volume application. Rigid, glass-based OLED now meet entry level automotive reliability requirements and are entering the automotive market as tail lights in first series production vehicles. Automotive lighting is strongly design driven and is an innovation driver for OLED: Current products feature segmented, free-form, homogeneous emission of rigid OLED panels; in the future, flexible OLEDs will provide the next next key feature of lighting technology for design-driven applications.
We will discuss recent progress in the area of flexible OLEDs that provides an encouraging view on the prospects of OLED lighting with a thin and flexible form factor. Special attention will be paid to the results of the BMBF-funded R2D2 research project, in which partners along the complete value chain from materials research to end users have been working on production-capable processes and technologies for flexible OLEDs. Within this project, OSRAM OLED has scaled up the sheet-to-sheet manufacturing of metal-foil based OLEDs which have then been evaluated by automotive end-users in modulisation and application tests. Finally, we will present the R2D2 project's tail light technology demonstrator, which highlights the design freedom that flexible OLED provides for automotive lighting.

講演者の経歴 (Arne Fleissner)

Dr. Arne Fleissner was awarded his PhD in Material Science in 2008 at the Darmstadt University of Technology, Germany. Until 2013 he was working at Cambridge Display Technology, UK, where he developed flexible low-cost low-information-content displays based on all-printed organic light-emitting electrochemical cells (OLECs). Dr. Fleißner joined OSRAM OLED in 2013 to take up one of the key roles in the R&D activities for flexible OLED lighting. Since then he has lead work packages in nationally- and EU-funded projects and has filed over 80 patent applications for OSRAM OLED. His current interest is the development of flexible OLED to meet the stringent automotive robustness and reliability requirements.

会社紹介 (OSRAM GmbH)

OSRAM GmbH logo
OSRAM of Munich, Germany is one of the two leading light manufacturers in the world. The company's portfolio covers the entire value chain from components - including lamps, opto semiconductors like light-emitting diodes (LED) - to electronic control gears as well as complete luminaires, light management systems and lighting solutions. OSRAM has around 39,000 employees worldwide and generated revenue of 5.4 billion Euros in fiscal year 2012 (ended September 30, 2012). More than 70 percent of its revenue comes from energy-efficient products. The company's business activities have been focusing on light - and hence on quality of life - for over 100 years.
