DownloadsIf you already have access, please [Login] Access is available via an IDTechEx Market Intelligence Subscription BiographyAppointed to his current post as a Vice President of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and the General Director of the Center for Aerospace and Systems Technology (CAST) in 2001, Dr. Hsu is in a position to help Taiwan¡¯s Aerospace industry ride the next wave of challenge. He has successfully lead CAST to develop the cutting-edge RFID technology and has organized the Taiwan RFID Consortium, to facilitate the local industry for entering the booming market of RFID application. In his twenty years of distinguished career with Hughes Aircraft Company, Dr. Hsu was recognized as an effective leader, and an expert in process improvement. Between 1998 and 2000, he was appointed to the position as Senior Program Director for Six Sigma at Hughes Space and Communications, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of Six-Sigma program for the company. As a member of the Executive Council, he also had the oversight responsibility of Product Assurance Operations at Hughes. Prior to these assignments Dr. Hsu was the Executive Director (VP level) of Product Assurance and Quality at Hughes Sensors and Communications Company, where he also served as a member of Hughes Leadership Council. At this position he successfully led the company in earning ISO-9001 registration and Boeing (former MDA) Gold Level Supplier Certification. Dr. Hsu held numerous leadership positions including Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Program Manager and Chief Scientist at Hughes. He was a key player in leading the implementation of Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiment, Integrated Product Development, Robust Design, and Six- Sigma Program. Before joining Hughes in 1981, Dr. Hsu was a Chief Statistician for Air Products, at which he provided technical direction to Applied Statistical Group for Design of Experiment, Statistical Modeling and Analysis and other Statistical Applications. From 1974 to 1980, he worked at Lockheed Electronics Company, where he held positions of Principal Scientist in the R & D Branch and Program Manager for Accuracy Assessment Projects. Dr. Hsu received his Ph.D. and M.S. in Statistics from University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1975. He earned various awards from the company that he served, including The Most Outstanding Six Sigma Leadership Award from Pyzdek and University of Arizona in 2000, Hughes Outstanding Leadership Award in 1996, and NASA Special Achievement Award in 1980. He was listed as ¡°Who is who in the West¡± in 1985, and ¡°Outstanding Young Man of America¡± in 1978. Presentation Summary
