Speaker BiographyDr Nick Stone completed a PhD in Microelectronics at the University of Cambridge in collaboration with Hitachi Europe working on silicon-based fabrication processes for novel memory and logic. Nick then joined Plastic Logic at its start and worked on developing processes and identifying applications as technical lead for non-display applications. In October 04 Nick left and founded Novalia in order to identify and commercialise early roadmap printed electronic applications based around high volume conventional printing/converting/patterning techniques. Company ProfileNovalia is focused on conventional printing processes and believes that printed electronic applications must be developed by working with existing manufacturers and their facilities. Novalia was awarded a grant by the UK's DTI to develop a printing process to manufacture TFTs. Novalia is working with various printers, converters and packaging companies to look at how early stage printed electronics can be made a reality. Working with existing manufacturers not only provides access to existing facilities but also enables a dialogue with their customers who are typically brand owners or publishers. This completes the circle going from printed electronic materials/devices using existing manufacturing processes to an end user validated product. |
