Speaker BiographySimon Holloway is Manufacturing Industry Architect at Microsoft EMEA. He is responsible for defining and developing solution-based architectures within the manufacturing sector. He is the EMEA Manufacturing lead on RFID and Shop Floor Security. Previous to this role, Simon was the Senior Corporate Technical Strategist at Microsoft UK, working within the Manufacturing section of the Retail Manufacturing Services division. This section supports approximately 120 customers in discrete and process manufacturing including such household names as BAT, Heinz, Cadbury Schweppes, Pfizer, Nissan Renault, and Coors. Before joining Microsoft in April 2003, Simon was a self-employed consultant advising manufacturing sector clients in how to get the most out of their technology. Previously he spent five years at Sun Microsystems as EMEA Web Services Marketing Manager, setting up a series of solutions for enterprise clients. Before that, he spent six years at Redfern (now part of the Hayes group) as a consultant. Simon has several areas of specialism from his wide-ranging manufacturing experience. For example, he is well versed in the concept of agile manufacturing and the use of web services in the sector. He is also knowledgeable in the use of RFID within supply chains. In particular, the importance of connecting directly to consumers in the FMCG sector is a key topic for him. Simon is married with two grown up children. He is the county hockey coach for the Hertfordshire under-17 and under-21 teams. Both he and his wife are keen ramblers.
