IOT devices expect Li-ion battery to have a long cycle life (longevity) such as several years because they may be used in areas where battery replacement is not easy. However general Li-ion battery needs replacement around every two years. This is because battery is degraded by several reasons such as charge level, voltage and temperature. This session talks about a method to extend battery cycle life through battery charging algorithm. This software/firmware solution is expected to reduce the cost of ownership as it enables less battery replacement. Developers and users of IOT devices will benefit from this algorithm in the area of Point-Of-Sale system, Environmental sensing system, Robots, Autonomous Driving, etc...
