Next Generation Rechargeable Batteries For EV Applications (Electric Vehicle Materials Europe 2020)

Urs Schoop, Chief Technology Officer
Sion Power Corporation
United States

Presentation Summary

Sion Power will present breakthrough technology leading to the highest combination of specific energy and energy density exceeding 650 Wh/kg and 1400 Wh/L. At the core of this transformational energy storage solution is a protected metallic lithium anode with several levels of physical and chemical protection. Sion Power's Licerion® high energy batteries have a potential to be enabling technology for a new era of electrified mobility. The presentation will discuss Sion Power technological approaches and the current state-of-energy density, cycle life, rate capability, low-temperature performance, and thermal stability of Licerion lithium- batteries.

Speaker Biography (Urs Schoop)

Dr. Urs Schoop has more than 25 years of thin-film process, R&D, and equipment experience. Current responsibilities include technology roadmaps for cycle life improvements, cost reductions and product development, as well as engineering oversight for current and future production processes.
