Speaker Biography (Yasuyuki Watanabe)

Born in Tokyo, Dr. Yasuyuki Watanabe took the degree of M. S. in 1998 and Ph. D degree in electrical engineering in 2003 from Tokyo University of Science. His main research theme was the low temperature growth of compound semiconductors such as ZnSe and GaN. In 2003, he then moved to the Venture Business Laboratory in Chiba University, Chiba, Japan, to research on organic field effect transistors. In 2004, addition to the said research, he also began to investigate the electronic structure of organic/metal interfaces in organic thin film transistors. This was partially supported by the 21st Century Center of Excellence Program that is so called "Frontiers of Super-Functionality Organic Devices" From the year 2004 to 2006, he worked for the Advanced Organic Device Project, OPTOELECTRONIC INDUSTRY AND TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (OITDA), Chiba laboratory, where he researched on the vertical type organic thin film transistors for flexible displays. Since 2007, he has been a research fellow of the Center for Frontier Science, Chiba University. His current research interest is in flexible electronic devices using functional materials such as organic semiconductors and zinc oxide materials. He is a member of the Materials Research Society (MRS), and the Japanese Society of Applied Physics.
