Sumitomo Chemical and CDT

Sumitomo Chemical is a Japanese company. It's a member of the Sumitomo group and is listed on the Nikkei 225. The company is one of Japan's major chemical companies and was founded in 1913. The company has been working on organic materials for OLEDs for about a decade, forming a joint venture with Cambridge UK based CDT (Cambridge display Technology). Sumitomo Chemical acquired CDT for $285 million in 2007, at price similar to the amount that had been invested in CDT until that point.

Highlights from Printed Electronics Asia 2012

IDTechEx held Printed Electronics Asia 2012 in Tokyo, Japan last week. This is part of the World's global event series on the topic with other events in USA (Dec 5-6) and Europe (April 17-18). Senior-level attendees from some of the biggest chemical, equipment and electronics companies were present from 23 countries, with 50% of attendees from Japan, and 66% of attendees from East Asia.

Low-cost charging in under 30 minutes

Nissan North America will bring an innovative, low-cost DC quick charger for electric cars to the U.S. market. The DC quick charger is being launched as part of a global collaboration with Sumitomo Corporation, with the first installations planned for early 2012.
