The Largest Energy Storage Project of Any Type to Date

Photon Energy has secured 1,200 hectares of land in South Australia to develop the world's largest solar energy storage project to date with solar generation capacity of 300 MW with a grid connection capacity of 150 MW. The target energy storage capacity is 3.6 GWh, equivalent to 24 hours of full load, to the grid, from storage.

Stockholm-based Echandia has signed an agreement to supply the world's first emission-free high-speed catamaran with an integrated battery and hydrogen-based fuel cell system. The client is Green City Ferries AB and the ferry is planned for commercial traffic in Stockholm.

Hyundai, Kia and Factorial Energy to Develop Solid-State Batteries

Factorial Energy, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation are partnering to test Factorial's novel solid-state battery technology and its integration in Hyundai electric vehicles. Under the Joint Development Agreement, which includes a strategic investment, the companies will integrate Factorial technology at the cell, module, and system levels, perform vehicle-level integration, and co-develop specifications for manufacturing Factorial's batteries.

Trio of Sustainable Power Sources for Royal Caribbean's Next Ships

The cruise industry's first hybrid powered ship is set to debut summer 2023 as part of Royal Caribbean Group's ultra-luxury brand Silversea Cruises. The new class of ships, known as 'Project Evolution,' will operate using a trio of power sources including a fuel cell system, battery technology and dual fuel engines using liquefied natural gas as the main fuel. This hybrid solution, using fuel cell technology, allows the ship to be free of local emissions while at port.
