BatterySense Project works on development of next generation batteries
CPI is part of a project focused on next generation battery and sensor work. Operating alongside partners on the BatterySense programme, CPI is supporting work to reduce the size of existing wireless sensing form factors by exploiting additive manufacture. This allows for the intimate integration of batteries into the substrates of ultrathin label-like sensors fabricated by roll-to-roll processes.

2.3 million tonne energy storage boost for copper
New research, commissioned by the International Copper Association, has found that, by 2029, annual global copper demand is set to increase by 2.3 million tonnes, thanks to energy storage in e- mobility and stationary storage applications. IDTechEx, the company responsible for the study, forecasts the increase as demand for energy storage will grow from 0.1 terawatt hours in 2019 to around 3.2 terawatt hours by 2029.
