An electric vehicle (EV) is an umbrella term for any vehicle that has pure electric modes for emissions-free operation. There are different levels within this, including battery-electric vehicle (BEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), high-voltage hybrid electric vehicle that does not plug in (HEV) and low-voltage full hybrid electric vehicles that do not plug in (48V FH).
