Stretchy plastic electrolytes for new lithium-ion battery design

The growing popularity of lithium-ion batteries in recent years has put a strain on the world's supply of cobalt and nickel - two metals integral to current battery designs - and sent prices surging. In a bid to develop alternative designs for lithium-based batteries with less reliance on those scarce metals, researchers have developed a promising new cathode and electrolyte system that replaces expensive metals and traditional liquid electrolyte with lower cost transition metal fluorides and a solid polymer electrolyte.

ABAX Sensing

ABAX Sensing are a stealth mode start-up developing FMCW lidar modules. IDTechEx interviewed Dr Hongquan Jiang in April 2019. Jiang is is a Partner at Robert Bosch Venture Capital (RBVC) and a Board Member of ABAX Sensing, and he is based in Germany. In 2018, Robert Bosch announced their interest in solid-state lidar and an investment in ABAX.

Cepton Technologies offer lidar modules. IDTechEx interviewed Dr Jun Pei in June 2019. Pei is the CEO and co-founder of Cepton, and he is based in San Jose, California, USA.

AEye

AEye offer lidar modules that integrate a 2D RGB camera. IDTechEx interviewed Mr Aravind Ratnam and Mr Stephen Lambright from AEye in May 2019. Ratnam is the Vice President of Product and Lambright is the Vice President of Marketing, and both are based in USA.

BrightWay Vision

BrightWay Vision (BWV) offer laser-gated image sensors and cameras. BWV products offer low-light and high-brightness imaging, poor weather imaging, and depth sensing functionality. IDTechEx interviewed Dr Ofer David in May 2019. David is the CEO and Co-Founder of BWV.
