Thermal interface material consumption in data centres

Data centres are a large and growing consumer of electricity worldwide. In a typical datacentre, row upon row of electronics are placed in a small space. These server rooms often become very warm, requiring special heat management solutions, given all the many calculations that are performed on the incoming and outgoing data packs all year around.

Imagination Garden is a Korean company that produce Smart Farms, high-tech hydroponic farms that can grow produce extremely efficiently in almost any location, including the centres of cities. The company uses AI to automate much of the growing process and ensure that plants get the exact nutrients that they need at any one time. IDTechEx met with the team at HaptX, including Jake Rubin, Joe Michaels, Andrew Mitrak and Kim Oberg. They had arguably the best booth at CES 2020 with their high-end haptic feedback gloves and robotic control demo along with Shadow Robotics and Tangible Research.
